Common Core State Standards

Common Core State Standards (CCSS) are an updated set of curricular standards that have been developed with the intention of unifying curricula and standards across all 50 states. Schools in California will teach to these standards beginning with the 2014-15 school year. For more information click here EGUSD - Common Core State Standards .

Currently, the staff at Franklin High has been participating in professional development provided by the district, site, and outside programs to effectively assist in implementing these new standards.

Parent and Staff Education Series

EGUSD provides workshops to provide parents and staff with mental health supports for their student's success within the school and home setting.  All of the workshops are held at the EGUSD office and are from 6:00-7:30PM. Call #916-681-7581 if you have any questions.

College application tips

Attention Seniors applying to 4 year colleges!  Remember, Franklin High School is a SEMESTER grading school when you are inputting your courses and grades.   Terms 1 & 2 = Fall Semester and Terms 3 & 4 = Spring Semester


Also, send ALL your SAT and ACT scores directly to the colleges you apply to from College Board and ACT.  Reporting your scores on the applications is NOT OFFICIAL SCORE REPORTING.


UC and CSU application deadlines are November 30th.

2015 APYLP Conference

Applications for the 2015 Annual Asian Pacific Youth Leadership Conference are now available.  Asian and Pacific Islander American juniors and seniors are encouraged to apply for this unique and very special educational program that will enhance and encourage their leadership skills and potential.

Fifty students will be selected for the three and half day leadership conference on March 26 -29, 2016, at the State Capitol in Sacramento.  Through its fundraising efforts and sponsorships, the Asian Pacific Youth Leadership Project pays for all costs for travel, lodging, meals, and conference materials for all student participants.

Here’s how to sign up:


  1. Visit http://kaplanatschool.com/Franklin. Select "SAT Prep Options" then  “SAT On Demand“ (Do the Same for PSAT and ACT)
  2. Click “Enroll Now”, then click “Proceed to Next Step”
  3. Fill out “Billing Information” (don’t worry, it’s still free).  You must complete all fields, including student and parent contact information.
  4. In the “Promotion Code” box, enter the discount code for the course you would like to begin :
  5. SAT Online:   KAS2015SAT
  6. PSAT Online:  KAS2015PSAT
  7. ACT Online:   KAS2015ACT
  8. Click “Apply” next to the promo code box.  Total should automatically reset to $0.
  9. Click “Submit Order”, and you’re done!

10/15:  Senior College Questions and Answers Workshop 9:00-10:00 am in the MP Room

10/22:  Senior Payment Plan Agreement, permission slips, & minimum deposit of $95 are due 

10/25:  ACT Test Date (for students who registered already)
