Common Core State Standards

Common Core State Standards (CCSS) are an updated set of curricular standards that have been developed with the intention of unifying curricula and standards across all 50 states. Schools in California will teach to these standards beginning with the 2014-15 school year. For more information click here EGUSD - Common Core State Standards .

For a summary of the CCSS in a short 3 minute video, please click on the following link CCSS Video .  This video was presented on our morning bulletin for all of our students to see.

Currently, the staff at Franklin High has been participating in professional development provided by the district, site, and outside programs to effectively assist in implementing these new standards.

The following link provides information by grade level for K-8 and for English language arts/literacy and mathematics for 9-12. The guides are provided in English and Spanish courtesy of the National PTA. CCSS Parent Guides

Please VOTE for Franklin's submission in Kaiser's Don't Buy the Lie Billboard Contest

Franklin has a Top 10 high school submission in the 2015 Kaiser Don't Buy the Lie Billboard Contest and we need your help!

Click on the link to VOTE! It takes less than a minute!

https://www.rationalsurvey.com/studyPeriods/collect/stdy_perd_id/13587/page/1

Or go to: www.kpdbtl.com

The billboard design was part of this year’s Digital Art & Graphic Design’s Anti-Tobacco Campaign Project. Students were split into five groups of seven and were required to come up with an Anti-Tobacco Campaign directed at either Parents, Merchants or Teachers. They were required to design and produce a logo/slogan, poster, yearbook ad, social media campaign, billboard design, and a 15-30 second PSA video. They each presented their campaigns to local designers, the District’s Health Services Dept and the advertising firm that came and mentored them, Uptown Studios. The winning team’s campaign was “Smoke Under a Cloak” directed toward parents.

Their "Different Look, Same Consequences" billboard design was a perfect fit for Don't Buy the Lie and now the designing team is eligible for a $1000 prize....SO PLEASE VOTE!!!

THANKS!!
