Common Core State Standards

Common Core State Standards (CCSS) are an updated set of curricular standards that have been developed with the intention of unifying curricula and standards across all 50 states. Schools in California will teach to these standards beginning with the 2014-15 school year. For more information click here EGUSD - Common Core State Standards .

For a summary of the CCSS in a short 3 minute video, please click on the following link CCSS Video .  This video was presented on our morning bulletin for all of our students to see.

Currently, the staff at Franklin High has been participating in professional development provided by the district, site, and outside programs to effectively assist in implementing these new standards.

Term 2 Schedule Change Requests/Forms

Term 2 schedules were distributed during first period on Tuesday, September 30th.  Students have until Tuesday, October 7th by 3:15 pm to turn in a schedule change request to their counselor.  If you are requesting to drop an Honors or AP class, you must also complete the Honors/AP Drop Request Form.  Both forms are available in Student Services and on Schoolloop

Sac State's Future Hornet Day - October 18th

Future Hornet Day is designed for prospective undergraduate students and their families. You can tour the campus, meet with many of our dedicated faculty, and attend information sessions on admissions, housing, financial aid, and more.

Here’s how to sign up:


  1. Visit http://kaplanatschool.com/Franklin. Select "SAT Prep Options" then  “SAT On Demand“ (Do the Same for PSAT and ACT)
  2. Click “Enroll Now”, then click “Proceed to Next Step”
  3. Fill out “Billing Information” (don’t worry, it’s still free).  You must complete all fields, including student and parent contact information.
  4. In the “Promotion Code” box, enter the discount code for the course you would like to begin :
  5. SAT Online:   KAS2015SAT
  6. PSAT Online:  KAS2015PSAT
  7. ACT Online:   KAS2015ACT
  8. Click “Apply” next to the promo code box.  Total should automatically reset to $0.
  9. Click “Submit Order”, and you’re done!

12th Annual UC Davis Pre-Medical and Pre-Health Conference

The 12th National UC Davis Pre-Health Student Alliance Pre-Medical and Pre-Health Professions Conference provides community-college, university, post-bac, and high school students, parents, and counselors with the information and skills necessary to succeed in the medical and health-professions school admission process. It provides a unique opportunity for direct contact with medical school deans of admission, admission officers, financial aid officers, faculty, and staff. The 2014 Conference will be held at the University of California, Davis on October 11-12, 2014.

PSAT Volunteers NEEDED

PSAT Volunteers are needed for 9th and 11th grade check-in the morning of October 15th in the MP Room from 7:00am - 8:00am.     If you are available to help please email or call Kellie Larsen - 714-8150 X8453.   (10th graders will report directly to their Advisory classes)
