Common Core State Standards

Common Core State Standards (CCSS) are an updated set of curricular standards that have been developed with the intention of unifying curricula and standards across all 50 states. Schools in California will teach to these standards beginning with the 2014-15 school year. For more information click here EGUSD - Common Core State Standards .

For a summary of the CCSS in a short 3 minute video, please click on the following link CCSS Video .  This video was presented on our morning bulletin for all of our students to see.

Currently, the staff at Franklin High has been participating in professional development provided by the district, site, and outside programs to effectively assist in implementing these new standards.

Technology Waiver Exam

The Business Department at Franklin High School is offering the Technology Waiver Exam on January 20, 2015 in room HG-3 from 3:30 - 6:00 pm. This challenge test is an opportunity for students who wish to challenge the computer technologies enrollment requirement so that they may bypass technology coursework and demonstrate proficiency for the EGUSD graduation requirement.

Students should review the attached documents, complete the application form and turn it in to Mr. Shuping, Ms. Courtwright, or the administration office no later than January 15, 2015.

Mark your calendar!  January 27, 2015 from 6-8pm at The Falls Event Center, 8280 Elk Grove Blvd.

This is a great opportunity for you to learn more about how EGUSD's career academies/pathways and our community partners prepare our students for college and career success.

The event is appropriate for children of all ages and will include interactive activities to ensure their engagement and expose them to a variety of career paths.

Cal State East Bay Education Summit

An event for First Generation, African American, Latino, Asian American, Native American, and Pacific Islander students and their Families

Saturday, January 31, 2015

Event Highlights Include:

  • Educational, college and career related workshops for Middle, High School and Community College students and their families
  • College and resource fair, including representatives from CSU campuses, community colleges and community vendors
  • Free lunch, parking & shuttle for BART riders

CSU EAP Results & EPT/ELM test information

If you plan to attend a California State University there are assessment tests required for both English and Math (EPT/ELM). The deadline is April 17th to sign up for the LAST TEST at Sac State on May 2nd.  The Senior Disney Land Trip is on May 2nd.  If  you are planning to go, be sure to register for an earlier test date.   To sign up see website attached below -Choose "Find test locations and dates", then proceed to "Register for Test."   (To see which assessment test(s) you need to take see EAP Results at the website attached below and check your SAT Math (exempt if 550 and above) and Critical Reading Scores (exempt if 500 and above)

  3. Fill out “Billing Information” (don’t worry, it’s still free).  You must complete all fields, including student and parent contact information.
  4. In the “Promotion Code” box, enter the discount code for the course you would like to begin :

  7. ACT Online:   KAS2015ACT
  8. Click “Apply” next to the promo code box.  Total should automatically reset to $0.
